Food fraud is a general term used to cover the deliberate and intentional substitution, addition, manipulation or misleading presentation of food, food ingredients or food packaging; or misleading false claims made about a product for financial gain.
Although food fraud incidents can occur in a number of different circumstances, they are generally related to issues such as labelling, advertising, presentation and packaging, where consumers are misled. Therefore, food fraud prevention is approached holistically.
The Food Fraud Prevention System provides the company with information on the food fraud situation of the raw materials it uses to manufacture its products. In addition, this system also allows compliance with the voluntary certification requirements that include elements related to fraud prevention and control.
